Pat Divilly is a business phenomenon. With a master's degree in exercise and nutrition, I was waiting for tables in Galway just two years ago when he started doing bootcamps at Silver Strand in Bearna. Through word of mouth and social networks, it has increased its operation to more than 800 subscribers that generate € 60,000 per month, and it does not even have a website!
That is a situation that is about to change, he says. After building his initial success on mailing lists, marketing social media content and growing hacking strategies such as e-books and public speaking, Pat says it's time to take it to the next level. He is working to develop a new website that will offer fitness and nutrition programs for members.
But with more than 120,000 likes on Facebook, it will not turn its back on social networks either. Surprisingly, their marketing strategy has much in common with their philosophy of weight loss and fitness. Divide large objectives into smaller and achievable objectives. Last year he committed to 100 commitments to speak in public. Some of them involved only a handful of people, but everyone helped, just to develop their public speaking skills.
"People tend to underestimate what they can achieve in the long term, and overestimate what they can do in a week"
We interviewed Pat for Technology.ie at the OMiG meeting (Online Marketing in Galway) last month. We will return to Galway this Thursday as media partners for the first OMiG Galway Digital Summit, for which Blacknight is a gold sponsor!
